dot-GOV Supports State Department Telecommunications Leadership Program (TLP)
Since the fall of 2002, dot-GOV has provided support from its Leader Award to the State Department Telecommunications Leadership Program (TLP), through requests from the dot-GOV CTO, Dr. Edward Malloy. This support has ranged from travel, organizing study tours, to providing speakers for conferences.
dot-GOV's assistance is considered part of the larger U.S. Government effort to promote telecommunications liberalization, bridging the digital divide, and adoption of the policies that enable e-commerce and e-government.
Two Key Speakers for International Conference on Implementing E-Government
Travel support was given to Mr. John Gage (Chief Researcher and Director, Sun Microsystems, Inc.), and Mr. David Binetti, (CEO, Federal Search Foundation), both key speakers at the International Conference on Implementing E-Government, held at Washington, DC 19-21 November 2002. The conference was sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the Trade and Development Agency, and USAID.
 Representatives from over 39 countries and a large number of private sector companies which are engaged in providing enabling e-government software and services to government attended the E-Government conference.
Presenter at E-Commerce and Small Business Development Workshop
 Through dot-GOV, Ms. Judith Payne (now part of USAID/EGAT/EIT) was able to present at E-Commerce and Small Business Development in Southern Mexico Workshop, 12-13 November 2002 in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. The workshop was part of the US-Mexico Partnership for Prosperity, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, the Mexican Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the Mexican Minister of Economy.

Presenters and Participants at the Jamaica Internet Forum
 Travel and per diem were covered by dot-GOV for presenters at the Jamaica Internet Forum, held at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, 20-21 February 2003. The Forum was co-sponsored by following institutions:
The Forum focused on peering and pricing strategies, new competition and information society policy strategies, aggregation, knowledge networking for a networked society, mobility and "nomadicity."
Four presenters Ms. Paige Anderson (Center for Democracy and Technology), Dr. William Lehr (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Professor Jon Gant (Syracuse University), and Professor Lee McKnight (Syracuse University) and one participant, Ms. Anupam Mundkar (Syracuse University) were able to attend the Forum due to the work of dot-GOV. Ms. Anderson gave a presentation on "Strategies for Enabling Access."
Internews was awarded the dot-GOV Leader Award No. GDG-A-00-01-00009-00 on 21 September, 2001.
